Seeing the World Through the Lens of Balance
In the beginning, there was not one- but two.
Not opposites.
But halves of a single breath.
Every leaf that drinks the sun also holds a shadow.
Every wave that rises must fall.
Every cell divides,
Not to separate-
But to grow.
We were taught to fear the dark
And worship only the light.
Yet Nature knows better.
The seed does not sprout in sunlight,
It awakens in darkness,
Soft and unseen.
On Seeing
If there is pain,
There is a part within you that still does not hurt.
If there is sorrow,
There is also the memory of joy.
If something is breaking,
Something else is becoming.
If you only look at what is wrong,
You miss what is quietly holding.
To live in harmony
Is not to label things as good or bad-
But to see both in one gaze
And not flinch.
In the Atom and the Cosmos
Split an atom-
You do not find nothing.
You find movement.
Positive and negative.
A dance so ancient,
It paints the shape of yin and yang in energy itself.
Even science,
Once certain it had solved the puzzle,
Now admits:
“There is more we cannot see than we can.”
Dark matter and galaxies.
Charge and countercharge.
Gravity formed by what is both present and invisible.
The universe does not fight its halves.
It spins them.
In the Body and in Water
Your body, too, is a story of duality.
Inhale- Receive.
Exhale- Release.
The stillness in between
Is where wisdom lives.
You are electricity and chemistry.
Effort and ease.
Structure and softness.
And water, our great teacher,
Is never just one thing.
It can carve stone,
But it also can comfort you.
It freezes, it evaporates, it flows. And in stillness, it becomes a crystal.
In charge, it becomes plasma- light in motion.
Light, too, is both wave and particle.
Even the smallest unit of nature
Refuses to choose one side.
So why should we?
And still, duality lives in places
we barely notice.
In mathematics,
every equation seeks balance.
Every plus calls for a minus.
Even the empty space of zero
holds the seed of everything.
In music-
there is no melody without silence.
Sound and stillness take turns
to carry the song.
In time-
we swing between the past and what may come,
while the present waits-
a moment that holds both.
Emotions too:
Joy and sorrow,
Anger and calm,
Love and fear.
Each feeling arrives with its shadow.
They are not enemies,
But teachers.
Even in speech-
what is said
and what is left unsaid
shape the meaning together.
In dreams and waking-
we walk two worlds.
One seen,
one felt.
And both are real.
There is fire,
And there is ice.
Cells burn with life,
Then cool to heal.
One does not cancel the other.
Together, they keep us whole.
And within us-
Logic speaks with clarity.
Intuition answers with quiet knowing.
Only when both are heard,
Can wisdom truly arise.
So we return to the truth:
Duality is not a split.
It is a current, flowing beneath all that is.
Every choice,
Every cell.
To live with it
Is not to be torn-
But to become whole.
How to Live with Duality
To live in balance
Is not to avoid difficulty-
But to hold it gently,
While knowing peace is still near.
If your thoughts are loud,
Turn to your breath.
If you feel torn,
Place your hand on what remains whole.
When you are angry,
Ask where you feel unseen.
When you are happy,
Give thanks without grasping.
Do not run from the opposites.
Learn to stand between them-
And bow.
Daily Practice
Sit with both.
If fear is present, ask what courage may be hiding nearby.
If you feel cold, search for the warmth that remains.
Walk between.
Before choosing a side, ask-
“What am I not seeing?”
Truth often lives between loud opinions.
Speak to yourself with gentleness.
“I see both.”
Let every side of you feel seen.
Notice your senses.
Your eyes perceive because of contrast.
So does your soul.
A Quiet Reflection
In the turning of day and night,
In the dance between inhale and exhale,
In the stillness between thoughts-
There is something eternal.
Duality is not conflict.
It is the harmony that holds all of life.
The music of contrast,
The grace of opposites.
Let us sit inside this truth:
When you stop fighting the shadows,
You begin to walk with the light.
