The Quiet Current
There is a rhythm that does not ask to be followed-
it only asks to be noticed.
Life moves not by force,
but by finding the spaces left unclaimed-
the quiet openings where things are meant to unfold.
We resist, we rush, we try to shape what will come-
yet the current moves beneath it all,
patiently waiting for us to soften
and allow ourselves to be carried forward.
The Gentle Forces
The river moves not by will, but by finding the spaces left unclaimed- gently pushing earth aside until earth remembers to shift.
There is no force in the wind that brushes the branches- yet the branches bend, knowing.
The soil holds no impatience for roots, and roots never demand faster bloom- yet everything comes, in its time.
A child plays not to win but to feel the breath of the game. This is presence- a quiet knowing that now is enough.
A gardener tends not by pulling, but by encouraging- knowing which leaf to leave, which branch to cut, which seed to water.
And so we move- with hands that give and hands that receive, with words that comfort and words that mend, with steps that fall and rise again.
For what is life, if not a breath that empties itself only to fill once more?
The river runs to the sea, knowing it must return to the sky. The leaf falls, yet it will rise as soil, as root, as bloom.
Afterword
Life rarely demands.
Instead, it offers- gently, persistently
until we finally hear.
We push against time,
forgetting that change comes not from force,
but from learning when to pause.
We speak when silence would have answered better.
We cling to what is fading,
forgetting that release is also a kind of strength.
These unseen forces are not obstacles-
they are the steady breath of life itself,
carrying us forward, even when we stand still.
My Favourite Nine Laws
The Law of Flow
Nothing forced ever thrives. The river moves not by pushing but by finding its way, weaving through stone and soil alike. So too, life unfolds best when we step in tune with its current.
The Law of Presence
The mind that dwells in yesterday or rushes toward tomorrow forgets the richness of now. Presence is not stillness; it is feeling the moment breathe.
The Law of Cycles
Everything turns in its time- growth, pause, and retreat. To rush a winter or stretch a summer only unsettles the rhythm. Honour the seasons, within and without.
The Law of Enough
More does not always mean better. There is quiet strength in simplicity- the power to know when enough has been reached.
The Law of Tending
All things need care- minds, hearts, and the quiet spaces within. What you water grows; what you neglect wilts. Tend to what matters.
The Law of Exchange
Giving and receiving are two sides of the same breath. When we hoard or demand, the rhythm falters. True wealth lies in balanced exchange.
The Law of Return
What you sow- in words, in actions, in silence- will find its way back to you. Plant kindness, patience, and warmth. The harvest will come in time.
The Law of Soft Strength
True strength is not found in hardness, but in the quiet resilience of softness. Like water carving stone, patience and calm have a power all their own.
The Law of Lightness
Heaviness clings when we grip too tightly. When we loosen our hold- on thoughts, on people, on control- life moves easier, and we breathe more freely.
May you trust the quiet current-
not as something to master,
but as something that has always known the way.
